Is there ever any good weather in this country! – A Northern Ireland Wedding at Brownlow House

A Northern Ireland Wedding at Brownlow House

I seem to photograph alot of my friends weddings, which I count as something special but my wife is never so happy about! Well she doesnt mind that much.

This was A Northern Ireland Wedding at Brownlow House.

I have known Keith a very long time. More than half my life. A fellow bass player (he usually buys all the amps and guitars and then I get to test them out) and a connoisseur of all sorts of cuisine like my good self. We have a lot in common.

I find it incredible, still, that your friends can come to you, and know you, and are able to put their trust in you to take their wedding photos. I think its great. There is no greater honour.

And so a little while ago Pam became involved in Keiths life. Pam is almost the complete opposite of Keith. A little bit quieter too which is not a bad thing. Gone were those Sunday evenings of takeaway and cheesey movies on Channel 5 at 9pm. Instead we had two people who were very happy and looked like they were meant to be together.  And so they decided to get married.

We had sat down, spent a little bit of time together planning the photographs for the day and where to go, it was the middle of July. I was expecting a heat wave. But of course the weather here was not to be trusted. It rained! Again! And a lot.

However after a ceremony at Glenabbey Church in Newtownabbey we travelled to Brownlow House in Lurgan for the reception. And even though it rained most of the day, we had great fun inside this old historic building trying to find wee nooks to get a few photos.

Keith and Pam love kids and they even invited all the children of their friends to the wedding. The best bit for them – there were gifts for the kids waiting at the reception tables. So my kids were there too. Not sure however I saw them as Keith had set up some games consoles for them and they were seldom heard from!

I have picked out just a handful of the photos that I liked from the day. Those little touches. Little glances. Its amazing seeing all this at a wedding. But when its your friends its even more special.
